This is the impressive little Portia spider, a jumping spider that is regarded as the most intelligent of these little critters. She feeds exclusively on other spiders, and has the ability to problem-solve and learn about the environment surrounding their prey, devising a plan to approach them from behind or from above to surprise and disable them before they can fight back. They can plan ahead and make detours in approaching their prey if it means finding the best attack angle against dangerous prey. They have instinctive hunting tactics for their most common prey, but can improvise by trial and error against unfamiliar prey or in unfamiliar situations, and then remember the new approach. Truly a remarkable species with looks to match.
