An item that should be on everyone’s bucket list is visiting Cape Town, and going up Table Mountain with the cable car. Everything about the place is magical. This picture doesn’t do it justice, so you’ll just have to visit in person. Go on, book those tickets!

The first cable car was opened in 1929 and since then over 24 million people have ascended to the top (me included!). The modern cable cars can each carry 65 people at a time travelling at 10m/s along cables that are 1200m long and weigh in at 18 tons each. Quite an engineering marvel.
